She graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest in 2018 and, since the autumn of that year, has been a trainee of Dr Rocsana Timotin, her mentor in feline veterinary medicine. From her fourth year at university she gained hands-on experience in general practices and in the faculty's clinic. In the course “Management of Canine and Feline Diseases”, part of her master's programme, she developed the ability to discuss a clinical case step by step, based on an analysis of the pathological mechanisms. Since then she has used the “blitz diagnostic” and “find the mistake” investigation techniques with enthusiasm and success when working up feline medicine cases. She mastered the differential diagnosis specific to cats over time, as she built up a rich caseload and became familiar with how differently active pharmaceutical substances act in cats. She developed a broad and deep understanding of the relationship between a pet and its human parent as early as her last three years at university, when she represented the students of her year on the Council of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest. The life experience she gained by mediating between students and teaching staff still helps her today, in addressing the concerns of human parents and the circumstances of their loyal friends, the cats.
Her seriousness, passion and love for the feline patient, together with her experience in companion animal and especially feline medicine, made her the right person to take up her place as a trainee and advocate for little cats, and to dedicate her professional work to the Cats' Medical Home, Cats' LadyVet. Here she has the opportunity to perfect her skills and study in depth how cats think, feline behaviour, cat care and cat diseases.
Outside the clinic, Dr Oana Alexandru is still surrounded by cats, as the mother of three cat children: Sonia, Narf and Pablito.
She loves reading, calligraphy, the history of religions, yoga, diving and extreme sports; a passionate traveller, she roams the world far and wide and writes a travel blog.
For some time now, Oana has been my companion in the calling and mission we have committed ourselves to: caring for and watching over the well-being, health and fulfilment of our much-loved patients, the cats. A warm, gentle and balanced personality, Oana always gives me a calm and harmonious perspective on everything we witness and take part in. With a vigilant, methodical and demanding eye, Oana always manages to spot that something which either turns an event into something deeper than it first seems, or improves a procedure or a protocol, making it more efficient and easier to use. I have the great privilege of being accompanied on the long, unpredictable and challenging journey of our professional life by someone as gifted as you, my dear Oana.
